A Little Appreciation For Kelly Rowland!

So, out of all the girls from Destiny's Child, Kelly rowland is my favourite and i ain't ashamed to say I STAN FOR KELLY!!!

Let's face it, back in the day, all the other members of DC were known as Bey's back-up but Kelly rose to claim her place in the music industry. For me, she's the most beautiful out of all the DC members. I remember seeing the video for No, No, No for the first time and thinking to myself, "dang, she's beautiful!"

Surprise! Janet Jackson is married!

Janet Jackson knows how to keep a secret: The singer has been married since last year.

The Masquerade Party by Blacktoe Productions

BlackToe Productions and Catherine Ruze Agency will be holding an exclusive, elegant black tie masquerade fashion party. We would like to bring back the true meaning of a masquerade party, while maintaining the elegance of a Catherine Ruze Agency fashion event. Masked or masquerade parties began in the late medieval court life, originally designed to celebrate a union or to mark a point in a royal dynasty. Eventually, the idea moved to be a semi-public event. This kind of party allowed nobleman and commoners to interact with the freedom of being whoever they liked while wearing masks and fashionable classy clothing. We feel the fun of incorporation masks in to a fashion party; will bring adventure and mystery to the night!

Kandi Buress Releases Gospel Track

Kandi Burruss seemed to ruffle up the feathers of some Bible- thumpers and gospel music fans this weekend after she debuted her new single, “Stay Prayed Up” on last night’s episode of Real Housewives Of Atlanta. She snagged gospel great Marvin Sapp for the inspirational track where she sings the lyrics:

"I stay prayed up, that gets me by, That’s how I made it through my darkest times. Yeah, I’m a sinner and that’s no lie, Thank God my prayers are heard because he knows I try"

Although the song shot straight to Number 1 on the Itunes Gospel charts after the show, it has received tons of criticism from people who lead perfect lives (sarcasm)…who feel as though Kandi is the last person who should be singing a gospel record since she has a very popular sex toy line and openly talks about sex during her weekly web stream segment Kandi Koated Nights.

Kandi took to her Facebook to address the criticism and posted:

I knew when I decided to do it that I would be criticized. That’s to be
expected. I'm a single mom that had a child out of wedlock, I speak openly about sex on #KandiKoatedNights, I have #BedroomKandi, etc… I’m very honest about who I am. My great grand father & my grandfather were Bishops in The Church of God Holiness. I believe in God but I have always struggled with the rules of the church just like a lot of people. The song “Stay Prayed Up” is like a testimony for me. Hopefully people with a similar struggle can relate.

A Valentine’s Gig with a Catch

Not like any Valentine’s concert you have ever been to…it’s a two hour musical show centred on the not so starry-eyed side of love with an exciting catch.

Singer/songwriter, Hope Masike together with Steve 'Dhongi' Makoni and Filbert Marova featuring songstress Carmen Hwirari-Mutengo will stage a concert christened, “Not Valentines Again” at the Alliance Francaise in Harare tomorrow (Feb 14, 2013) at 7:30pm.

The show will also carry a charitable twist with 50% of the proceeds going towards fundraising efforts for The Special Schools Festival scheduled for June 2013 at St. Giles.

Characterised by solo and collaborative performances, the concert will lightly and wittingly explore those “sweet nothings” (you know what we mean) like in Steve Makoni's song “Kana Usipo,” heartbreaks as in Miriam Makeba's “Forbidden Games” and careless love expressed in Karyn White's chant “Super Woman.”

Masike said, “My goal is to hold a series of shows called, Mbiracentric Concerts which fuse Mbira and different music styles with the aim of expanding Mbira and taking it to its full musical potential.”

This year, the vocalist added that in the pipeline are shows that will marry Mbira with Rave and Sungura and with each Mbiracentric Concert, 50% of all proceeds will be channelled towards a charitable cause.

“We want to encourage Africans to support charities too, I personally do not believe in most forms of international aid to Africa. I believe in empowerment which allows the recipient to stand independently, so through this initiative, it shall be Africa giving to Africa,” added Masike.

Love A Man, Change The World!

If you want to change the world love a man; really love him
Choose the one whose soul calls to yours clearly who sees you; who is brave enough to be afraid
Accept his hand and guide him gently to your hearts blood
Where he can feel your warmth upon him and rest there
And burn his heavy load in your fires
Look into his eyes look deep within and see what lies dormant or awake or shy or expectant there
Look into his eyes and see there his fathers and grandfathers and all the wars and madness their spirits fought in some distant land, some distant time
Look upon their pains and struggles and torments and guilt; without judgment
And let it all go
Feel into his ancestral burden
And know that what he seeks is safe refuge in you
Let him melt in your steady gaze
And know that you need not mirror that rage
Because you have a womb, a sweet, deep gateway to wash and renew old wounds

If you want to change the world love a man, really love him
Sit before him, in the full majesty of your woman in the breath of your vulnerability
In the play of your child innocence in the depths of your death
Flowering invitation, softly yielding, allowing his power as a man
To step forward towards you…and swim in the Earth’s womb, in silent knowing, together
And when he retreats…because he will…flees in fear to his cave…
Gather your grandmothers around you…envelope in their wisdoms
Hear their gentle shusshhhed whispers,
calm your frightened girls’ heart
Urging you to be still…and wait patiently for his return
Sit and sing by his door, a song of remembrance,
that he may be soothed, once more

If you want to change the world, love a man, really love him
Do not coax out his little boy
With guiles and wiles and seduction and trickery
Only to lure him…to a web of destruction
To a place of chaos and hatred
More terrible than any war fought by his brothers
This is not feminine this is revenge
This is the poison of the twisted lines
Of the abuse of the ages, the rape of our world
And this gives no power to woman it reduces her as she cuts off his balls
And it kills us all
And whether his mother held him or could not
Show him the true mother now
Hold him and guide him in your grace and your depth
Smoldering in the center of the Earth’s core
Do not punish him for his wounds that you think don’t meet your needs or criteria
Cry for him sweet rivers
Bleed it all back home

If you want to change the world love a man, really love him
Love him enough to be naked and free
Love him enough to open your body and soul to the cycle of birth and of death
And thank him for the opportunity
As you dance together through the raging winds and silent woods
Be brave enough to be fragile and let him drink in the soft, heady petals of your being
Let him know he can hold you stand up and protect you
Fall back into his arms and trust him to catch you
Even if you’ve been dropped a thousand times before
Teach him how to surrender by surrendering yourself
And merge into the sweet nothing, of this worlds’ heart

If you want to change the world, love a man, really love him
Encourage him, feed him, allow him, hear him, hold him, heal him
And you, in turn, will be nourished and supported and protected
By strong arms and clear thoughts and focused arrows
Because he can, if you let him, be all that you dream
