Clothing Indaba Zimbabwe 2012

The Zimbabwe Clothing Manufacturers Association is partnering with the United Nations and other local organisations such as the Zim Trade and Zimbabwe fashion Council to bring you a clothing indaba, a first of its kind in Zimbabwe.

The event is happening from the 16th to the 17th of November, 2012 at Platinum Lifestyle Estate in Borrowdale from 8am to 8pm.

I've e-mailed Thandi for information on the registration process and i still haven't got a reply from her. If i finally get the info, i'll update.

Update

The first day of the two day indaba will consist of plenary session where discussions on the importance of the clothing industry, dealing with cheap competition from cheap imports and competing in the global village, among others, will take place.

A speaker on attracting investment has been invited to speak on day two, which will include a trade fair and fashion shows. The fashion showcase, on the afternoon of November 17, will present garments by young designers from tertiary institutions around the country culminating with a show by two of Zimbabwe’s top designers, Maita Marimo and Intisaar Mukadam and the winner of the Young Designers Competition at Zimbabwe Fashion Week, Kimberly Masimbe.

More information about ZCMA and contact details for the indaba can be found at the ZMCA website.

General Motors Weight Loss Diet

So my sister introduced me the this diet termed General Motors Weight Loss Diet and i thought i'd have a shot at it.

First day, you consume all fruits except bananas. Second day you have a large boiled potato for breakfast and then all vegetables you want, taking note to avoid oil or coconut. Third day you eat a mixture of vegetables and fruits but still no bananas and no potatoes. Day four you have 8 bananas and 3 glasses of milk, plus you can also have a bowl of vegetable soup if you so wish. On day 5 you will have one cup of rice, six whole tomatoes and 12 glasses of water. On the sixth day, you will take 1 cup of rice and all vegetables, cooked or raw. On the last day, you consume 1 cup of rice, fruit juice and vegetables. In summary, this is all.

They say you can lose anything between 2kg-8kg in a week on this diet. You can also repeat this diet anytime you want, although you must allow your body at least 3 days to let your body rest before starting again.

This diet is supposed to clean your digestive system and remove toxic substances.

I`m on day 1 of this and i've had 1 and a half apples, an orange and avocado. I' also managed to drink a litre of water. I was way too busy today so i didn't have any trouble getting by, and surprisingly i'm so full from the avocado. I hope i can make it through to day 7 **fingures crossed**!

Staying Younger For Longer

Aging is one of the things in life that we just cannot stop. Sooner or later, age is going to catch up with us. However, the process of aging can be slowed down and in this article, I’ll make an attempt to help you with ways to slow down the aging process.

Aging is defined as the biological process of growing old or maturing. Others define it as the impact of time on our bodies. It is a process that is inevitable for all living organisms but as humans, we can at least try to slow down the process using both natural and artificial means. Listed below are some of the things that may delay aging.

Exercise Make a habit of exercising often as this is one of the ways to stay young. Exercising on a regular retains youthful energy and youthful cardiovascular systems. Go on the treadmill, walk or jog, ride your bike, swim and play any sport that keeps you on your feet.

Drink a lot of water Adequate water in your system will flush out toxins from your body, leaving you energetic and rejuvenated. It will also make your skin glow, making you look younger. Make sure you have a minimum of at least six glasses everyday and not more than three litres.

Get enough sleep Getting undisturbed, quality sleep every night allows the body to rest and repair itself. Good sleep improves concentration, sharpens reflexes, regulates hormones and reduces stress. Experts recommend at least 8 hours of sleep everyday.

Eat healthy By following a healthy diet, one does not run the risk of un-balancing the hormones. Since hormonal imbalance has a tremendous role in ageing, healthy eating programs are recommended so that the body can maintain its normal levels of hormones. I suggest you cook more often at home, rather than buying fast food. Cooking at home enables you to know every ingredient that is going in your meal. You must also load up on fruit and vegetables. After all, you’re what you eat.

Stay away from the sun The sun’s rays have been shown to damage DNA and accelerate aging in cells. In fact, studies have shown that the sun is one of the leading causes of aging. If you must really be in the sun, wear a sun cream and moisturizer to keep your skin supple.

Avoid stress Stress is known to accelerate the aging process. When we suffer stress, we lose our bodies’ natural balance which causes damage to hormone secretion, cell repair, and collagen production (collagen is responsible for your skin’s elasticity and strength). Listening to good music or watching a nice, wholesome television show will help in lowering down stress levels in your body.

All in all, slowing down the aging process is not difficult at all, provided you’re willing to work on it. I encourage you to have power over things that you can actually control.

Chocolate Princess Ladies Pamper Thyself Day in Pictures

The day was fun. We had an expert who taught us about cancer and demonstrated how to do a breast cancer self-examination. As usual, there were lots of drinks and snacks, plus we got to try on dresses and shoes. The lovely Prayer Soul and Fungai perfomed a few songs for us as well. Enjoy the photos.
