The Zimbabwe Clothing Manufacturers Association is partnering with the United Nations and other local organisations such as the Zim Trade and Zimbabwe fashion Council to bring you a clothing indaba, a first of its kind in Zimbabwe.
The event is happening from the 16th to the 17th of November, 2012 at Platinum Lifestyle Estate in Borrowdale from 8am to 8pm.
I've e-mailed Thandi for information on the registration process and i still haven't got a reply from her. If i finally get the info, i'll update.
Update
The first day of the two day indaba will consist of plenary session where discussions on the importance of the clothing industry, dealing with cheap competition from cheap imports and competing in the global village, among others, will take place.
A speaker on attracting investment has been invited to speak on day two, which will include a trade fair and fashion shows. The fashion showcase, on the afternoon of November 17, will present garments by young designers from tertiary institutions around the country culminating with a show by two of Zimbabwe’s top designers, Maita Marimo and Intisaar Mukadam and the winner of the Young Designers Competition at Zimbabwe Fashion Week, Kimberly Masimbe.
More information about ZCMA and contact details for the indaba can be found at the ZMCA website.
